Efficiently Providing Services to the Citizens of the Commonwealth.

Governor Fletcher was elected with a mandate to change the way business was done in Frankfort.  He is constantly working to eliminate waste, inefficiency, fraud and abuse; maximize the use of available resources; and streamline state government operation to provide services to the citizens of the commonwealth simply and effectively.

Governor Fletcher has reorganized the administration and reduced the number of cabinets, made responsible decisions to balance the budget shortfall and continue to provide government services, and instructed all cabinets to continue to identify and eliminate any instances of waste, inefficiency, fraud or abuse of state government resources.

Kentucky: Open for Business

Being "Open for Business" means working cooperatively with businesses seeking to locate and expand in Kentucky. Under Governor Fletcher's leadership, Kentucky now has a renewed commitment to find and develop the right situation for businesses, their employees and the citizens of Kentucky by directing the state's resources towards increased investment and job creation.

Governor Fletcher has already secured several economic development opportunities to ensure job and revenue growth in Kentucky, and begun to enact reforms to make Kentucky the best possible place to work and do business.

Curbing Drug Abuse - Hitting the Ground Running

The protection of Kentucky's citizens and the need to administer justice must always be a priority of state government. Governor Fletcher appointed former United States Attorney and now Lt. Governor Steve Pence to lead the Cabinet for Justice and Public Safety. Together, the Governor and Lt. Governor are working to develop a comprehensive, state-wide approach to eradicating illegal drug use, protecting homeland security, and providing our police officers with the resources they need to keep Kentuckians safe.

Infrastructure and access are as important as any elements in supporting and promoting commerce. The Transportation Cabinet seeks to provide a safe and reliable highway system which will support Kentucky's future economic growth, national competitiveness and overall quality of life.

The Thoroughbred industry in Kentucky is recognized worldwide. Governor Fletcher is committed to maintaining Kentucky's role as a leader in thoroughbred racing.  He is working to outline a path that will lead to the ideal economic development intersection where "new economy" meets existing assets, and continue the promotion and development of Kentucky's signature industry.
