May 20, 2005: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced via satellite from Nagoya, Japan that Toyota will begin production of the Camry Hybrid at its Georgetown plant in the second half of 2006.

March 18, 2005: After fifteen months of diligence, Governor Ernie Fletcher signed House Bill 272 on Friday, March 18. HB 272, which was based on Governor Fletcher's JOBS for Kentucky proposal, is the most extensive reform of Kentucky's tax code in more than fifty years. "We have worked hard to achieve meaningful tax reform for the people of Kentucky," Governor Fletcher explained. "I am proud to sign HB 272 today and modernize the state's outdated tax code. The bipartisan accomplishments of 2005 will not soon be forgotten."
